Allscott Meads shortlisted for Planning Award
SJ Roberts Homes are delighted to announce that our project, Allscott Meads in Shropshire, has been shortlisted as a finalist into the RTPI Excellence in Planning for Communities (large schemes of 50 homes or more) in collaboration with Telford and Wrekin council.
Allscott’s old sugar beet factory in the heart of Shropshire is transforming into a thriving community space, Allscott Meads. Disused since its closure in 2007, the 64-acre site is being given a new purpose, providing 470 homes with a primary school and retail units.
When speaking about the shortlisting, SJ Roberts Design Manager Neil Jones said: “This is fantastic news and a testament to the design and planning process working. From the outset, Telford and Wrekin were clear that this project was a standout. During the early consultation process, it became apparent that our vision for the site also aligned with theirs and this collaboration has resulted in Allscott Meads not only becoming a fantastic community with distinct character, but a destination to visit and enjoy. From its connection with the outdoors and plentiful walks through nature, the enhanced Sports and Social Club, new Primary School and the soon to be delivered Commercial centre. The landowners, British Sugar, wanted to leave a legacy and this was a primary reason why SJ Roberts were chosen. I am proud to say that we have and will continue to deliver this legacy.”
