A Happy Ending: Eddie and Helen’s Recommendation Leads to Their Family Finding Their Dream Home at Allscott Meads

A couple local to the development, Eddie, and Helen, who have recently retired, found their forever home when SJ Roberts Homes began to develop Allscott Meads on the old sugar beet factory site in Allscott.

Eddie said: “We were actively looking for a low-maintenance home to enjoy our retirement. We had viewed several new builds in Telford and Shrewsbury on larger developments, but the houses were on top of each other and did not have the access to health benefits compared to those at Allscott Meads. When we visited the development, we fell in love with everything it had to offer, it ticked every box. We loved the exclusive village feel and immediately knew it was the right place for us.

“The location is great. We’re not in a town, but towns are easily accessible. Coming out of Covid we wanted the peace and tranquillity of the countryside but with proximity to amenities – a local medical centre is five minutes’ drive away, as is the local hospital. A new bus route to Wellington for access to the shops is excellent, and Shrewsbury is just 10 minutes away.

“We lived in a new property many years ago, then spent 18 years in a 300-year-old farmhouse. A modern new-build property offered us minimal maintenance and energy efficiency, and we’ve since added solar panels which have further helped with the cost of bills – they are a fraction of what they would have been at our old farmhouse, or even at an existing non new build.”

Eddie added: “Before our reservation appointment with Debra, we were considering reserving a new build home at another development, but it didn’t match up to our ideal home at Allscott Meads. The Ercall is everything we were looking for. The house is spacious, and the garden is a generous size – perfect for entertaining family and friends during the warmer months. We love the light and airy feel throughout the property, and the open downstairs space with bi-fold doors has always been a wow factor for us.

“We found SJ Roberts Homes to be completely different to any other developers. The standard of workmanship and the overall quality of the homes are exceptional, and the entire purchasing process was straightforward. Debra was always helpful and highly informative. She went above and beyond for us, and we could not have asked for a better service.

“As I’m sure many do, we had reservations about the service we would receive after we got the keys to our home, but nothing is too much trouble for James and his team – they are all incredible. If there is a reason to go with a local house builder, it’s the outstanding after-sales service.”

Beyond the doorstep of their home, Allscott Meads has many features across the development which Eddie and his family all use and enjoy.

Eddie said: “I have a respiratory health condition, so having over 2 km of walk and cycleways, the nearby sports club, a park, and a lagoon as well as the village greens, the future wildlife meadow and allotments is a massive advantage.”

Allscott Meads also made a lasting impression on Eddie’s son and partner, Dan, and Sammie, who have now moved into another property on phase 1 of the development.

Sammie said: “Moving to Allscott Meads has been one of our best decisions. When looking for our first home, one of us wanted a new build, and one of us was hesitant. My in-laws, Eddie, and Helen had purchased on the site, and they recommended Allscott Meads to us. We booked an appointment to view some of the properties and were soon both fully onboard with finding our first home here.”

Eddie added: “Having our family move onto the development has been a huge bonus – we’re able to walk around for a chat or dinner and meet them at the Club House with our free membership as residents of Allscott Meads.

Sammie concluded: “We never envisaged moving so close to family, but it has been lovely. My father-in-law has respiratory health issues, so being able to go on walks together both around the development which has been designed to include recreation facilities, as well as around the beautiful local area, has been a bonus. We have also now got a puppy which gets us out and about, and we’ve met many more local people as a result. It is becoming a wonderful neighbourhood – one we’re proud to be part of.”
